“Blossoming Joy”: From Dream Inspiration to a Dream-Realizing Journey at the Tencent Cloud AI Hackathon

Hi friends, happy Little New Year! I’m Leafer, an open-source creator who loves sharing innovative stories (founder of LeaferJS). Today is the Little New Year in southern China, and I’d like to share a story about “Blossoming Joy”—a journey of drawing inspiration from a dream and turning it into reality.
Inspiration from a Dream
Friends who know me may have heard this interesting story: one day, I had a strange dream. In the dream, I was flipping through a book, and it finally stopped on the four words “Blossoming Joy.” When I woke up, I had a vague feeling that this was a gift of inspiration. So, “Blossoming Joy” became one of the themes for a hackathon jointly planned with Tencent Cloud.
The core idea of this theme is: to let developers use AI programming to create a game filled with positive energy, presenting joy and life goals through interaction.
Before the Competition: Shanghai Snacks and Night Views
On the afternoon of January 11, 2025, I flew from Beijing to Shanghai to attend the AI development hackathon hosted by Tencent Cloud. The event was held at East China University of Science and Technology, and I participated as a judge and award presenter.
As soon as I arrived in Shanghai, I couldn’t wait to head to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street to try various local delicacies. In the evening, I walked along Nanjing Road to the Bund, enjoying the night view of the Oriental Pearl Tower by the Huangpu River under neon lights. At that moment, even the air felt relaxing.
Many thanks to the Tencent staff who arranged the tickets and thoughtfully booked a comfortable hotel. That night, I fell asleep with anticipation and joy, ready for the exciting event the next day.
The Competition: Surprises and Laughter On Site
On January 12, I set off early. However, I almost got lost because I entered the campus from the East Gate closest to the hotel (the South Gate had clearer directions). Fortunately, I eventually found the venue and avoided an awkward situation.
After arriving, I met Zhang Jingjing, the product lead of Tencent Cloud Cloud Studio—she looked even more beautiful in person than in photos! I also met Ding Ning, the product lead of Tencent Cloud AI Code Assistant, who has been actively promoting our collaboration. Soon after, the event officially began.
The event invited many distinguished guests, including Wang Huifeng, Vice President of East China University of Science and Technology, Yang Hui, General Manager of Tencent Cloud Education Industry, and Chen Yulong, Technical Partner at CSDN. Their opening speeches were full of optimism about the future of AI technology.
Before the competition, Zhang Jingjing, product lead of Tencent Cloud Cloud Studio, explained the rules and demonstrated the Cloud Studio online programming environment and AI Code Assistant. Participants were required to develop creative game applications around the theme “Blossoming Joy” using LeaferJS and Tencent Cloud AI Code Assistant. Tencent Cloud also prepared generous prizes for outstanding teams, such as smart speakers, Bluetooth earphones, custom figurines, and themed backpacks.
Then the intense competition began.
After just 1.5 hours, the competition entered the project presentation and judging phase. The judges and I raced against time to score the entries, and finally, the product lead of Tencent Cloud AI Code Assistant announced the results.
The participants’ creativity and technical skills were truly impressive. Here are a few works that stood out to me:
First: The Most Stunning “Blossoming Joy” Visual Effects
This project captivated everyone with its visual effects. The interactive animations were extremely well done—the blooming petals resembled New Year fireworks, smooth and dazzling, earning applause from the audience.

Second: The “Academic Journey” from Elementary School to University
This was a project completed by a father and son, featuring a fun “progression gameplay.” Players needed to complete tasks to advance from elementary school to university (earning certificates). The ending was cleverly designed: the faster you finish, the better the university you enter (top-tier or regular), otherwise you “fail the exam.” It brought continuous laughter to the audience.

Third: The Subtle Balance Between Goals and Achievements
This project included multiple sub-goals such as language learning, investment planning, and travel plans. Completing each task lit up part of the “Blossoming Joy” effect, and completing all tasks triggered a grand final display. Despite its higher difficulty, the creativity was impressive.

A Successful Conclusion
After judging, I joined the Tencent Cloud Cloud Studio product lead to present certificates and prizes to the winners. The entire competition was filled with laughter and joy, and many projects conveyed positive energy—such as New Year wishes, self-discipline, goal planning, and pursuing dreams.

As the New Year approaches, I sincerely invite developers to create more games filled with positive energy and festive spirit. Let’s use technology and creativity to bring motivation and joy to people—ignite hope in games and pursue dreams in reality.
“Blossoming Joy” has given me a deeper understanding of a unique meaning—the happiness and sense of achievement when striving toward a goal.
