LeaferJS Trials a 4-Day Workweek to Explore More Efficient Open-Source Collaboration

2025-02-06 "Work Happily"

Hi everyone, I’m Leafer, the creator of LeaferJS.

New year, new changes! To focus on breaking through core goals, LeaferJS is officially trialing a 4-day workweek (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) starting today. We hope this will boost creativity, optimize development pace, and attract more outstanding developers to join the community.

Why Trial a 4-Day Workweek?

The success of open-source projects often depends on doing the right things, strong community collaboration, and continuous innovation. Through this adjustment, we aim to:

  • Reduce peripheral tasks, and focus more on core feature development and optimization to build a stronger reputation.
  • Enhance creativity, with more time for reflection and idea incubation.
  • Increase well-being, reduce fatigue, and improve long-term productivity.
  • Attract top talent, creating a more appealing open-source culture.

How It Works

  • Workdays: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday — focused on development and collaboration.
  • Rest days: Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday — for better recovery and learning.

What We Believe

  • A more flexible way of working leads to better products.
  • Greater creativity will accelerate the growth of LeaferJS.

Looking back, many of LeaferJS’s early technical breakthroughs were born under such a flexible and efficient working style. I will share the real results of the 4-day workweek later, hoping it can serve as an exploration of new working models for open-source teams.
